I-294 (Tri-State Tollway) Mile Long Bridge Reconstruction, Cook County, IL, Illinois Tollway

Joint Venture Partner responsible for overall management and coordination for the survey, EA and inspection of the 4,940’ long, 54 span, dual Tollway Structures 191 & 192 (Mile Long Bridge). Structure carries 8 lanes of Tollway over BNSF RR yard, Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, Des Plaines River, I&M Canal, CN RR, and several local roadways. Inspection was NBIS element level inspection which involved the use of snooper, bucket trucks, and significant coordination. Developed the inspection criteria and overall plan, coordinated with the four firms involved in the inspection, arranged for the rental of access equipment, arranged for lane closures from both IDOT and the Toll Authority, arranged for railroad flaggers while working in the railyard, and managed the preparation of exhibits for the Bridge Condition Report. Performed topographic surveys of the bridge and railroad yard, hydraulic survey of canal and right of way surveys using 3-D Lidar scanning. Construction Cost: $400M
